Maya Wassermann

I am a student at Bergen County Academies. I live and breathe dance but I also have a passion for marketing and advertising. I would love to combine my passions to work as a marketing director for a dance company or even my own dance school one day. Have a look down below to learn more about me!

I currently get most of my formal training at Broadway Dance Center in Manhattan. There I perform and train with the prestigious Arts in Motion Company. I have the amazing opportunity to work with working choreographers from NYC and LA. I am so grateful to be surrounded by all these amazing dancers.

I get most of my formal ballet training at Miss Patti's School of Dance under the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD US) program. The RAD program is a series of exams scored by a guest ballet master. This year, I took my Advanced Exam and received a distinction: the highest merit given for exams.

Studio 216 is the only student-run theatre company at Bergen County Academies. We meet twice a week to discuss new productions. For Studio 216, I worked as Communications and Marketing Coordinator. My job is so much fun and I love working with incredible artists to put on amazing productions!

I began interning at Zeemee after I was asked to be on Fox and Friends! I absolutely love working with this team and sharing ideas. As an intern, I informally took on the role of Social Media and Marketing intern. I am absolutely loving working with all the other interns as well!

I co-produced a short film called "Buzz." The production was entirely student run, written and produced. I also worked as Social Media Director of "Buzz". The experience was so incredible and the film can be viewed below. We are currently submitting to film festivals. We raised over $900 for this!

In addition to training, I also perform professionally. I have be lucky enough to be able to work with such amazing artists. I have danced in music videos, television/film and on stage. I am looking forward to continuing pursing dance on a professional level in college and beyond as well.

I am currently an intern at Broadway Dance Center for Public Relations & Marketing. April Cook is my mentor and I am learning so much. There are so many parallels between marketing yourself as a dancer and marketing a company. I love this internship; I want to continue to do work like this forever.

I teach at Dance Designs in New Jersey. I love teaching because it gives me a different perspective of dance. I love being able to share my passion with the next generation of dancers. I have taught in other studios around NJ and Israel as well. I love watching the kids grow and develop as artists.

Black and Blue is a student run fashion up-cycle shop. It is run sort of like the famous Buffalo Exchange in NYC. We take in clothes that people give us to make new garments or to sell straight up again in exchange for points for our shop. I worked as advertising and marketing coordinator.

Annually, I perform with Julie Dance and Ukraine Ballet. All proceeds of the show go to pediatric cancer research. Over the years, Julie Dance has donated over $430,000. I love performing this and I look forward to this time every year.
