My Story

Hello everyone, and WELCOME! My name is Maria Alejandra Maltez. I was born in Nicaragua on May 10th 1998. I live in a small nuclear family comprised of my parents and my sister. I consider myself a very enthusiastic, friendly person with a passion to serve others.

Dancing

Dancing has been a part of my life since I was three years old. I have been in several performances with distinctive roles in each one. I dance jazz, ballet, hip hop and I also do gymnastics. I love it because it reflects another version of myself.

Soccer

I have been member of the school girls’ Soccer team since eigth grade. I went to the AASCA Soccer Tournament in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 2013. I had to stop playing in my Junior high school year due to medical reasons.

Community Service

Since I was little I´ve always loved to help others. Therefore when I had the opportunity, I started joining my school´s clubs for community service. I am the President for the "Pink Club" in school, the Vice-President for the "Aproquen Club" in school, member of Operation Smile and YWLP.

Student Council

Since I was in ninth grade I have been a part of the Student Council in my school. I competed for three years and won two of them. I was the Vice-President for "ONE" and a Vocal for "TTA". Also I was Campaign Manager for "TID".

Traveling

Since I can remember I have always loved to travel! I like meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures. Through the years I have had the chance to travel to many parts of the world with my family.

HACIA Democracy

I have been part of HACIA Democracy in my school which in other words its a debate team. This debate team participates in "Harvard Association Cultivating Inter-American Democracy" competition. I have been to Cancun, Mexico and Panama City,Panama to participate in this event.

AASCA Leadership

I was chosen for the AASCA Leadership Conference in El Salvador in 2013 due for my leadership and academic skills. It was an awesome experience time because I got to learn new lessons and had the opportunity to meet new people that came from distinctive cultures.
