Catherine Ryan

Hi! My name is Catherine and I am from the suburbs of Philadelphia. I have three older brothers, but unfortunately no pets! I grew up loving the arts and now hope to pursue television and film in college. I also love to travel and wear a lot of stripes. Thanks for checking out my profile!

For eight years I attended the same overnight camp each summer. Through camp I have met my best friends, traveled the world, and had the best days of my life. This past summer I joined the staff, helping bring the magic to the mountain to campers as my counselors did for me.

Over the past three years I spent one week each summer teaching kids with special needs how to ride a bike. It has always been challenging, but it has always been worth it. Behind the scenes I have helped to organize the event and helped with student involvement. It has been an amazing opportunity!

I would say I have always been an artist, even if my scribblings as a child aren't frame worthy. In school I have pursued art courses each year, and I'm currently taking AP Studio Art. Outside of class I pursue other forms of art, like making short videos. I hope to continue this throughout my life.

Summer of 2014 I traveled to Hanover, Germany through my YMCA camp. I spent one week with a family whom I still love and talk with today, another week visiting major cities (I love Berlin!), and then two more at an international CVJM camp, all with kids from Russia, Spain, Germany, and the U.S.!

More Love Letters is an organization that helps people provide support for their loved ones by reaching out to strangers for letters. Through participating in this I have learned to love to write letters, and now in addition send mail to my friends. I love to connect with people this way.
