My Story

If there's anything you should know about me, above all other things, it's indicated by the nearest photo of spongebob. Alright, I'm a nerd. You caught me. I'm a writer, philosophizer, psychologer (that's a word now), and, most importantly, a friend. I just like to make people think and smile.

The Change Agent (Fascinate Personality Type)

Primary advantage: power, Secondary Advantage: Innovative. Apparently, I'm a change agent. What does any of this mean to you? It means that I think outside the box, have little trouble saying exactly what I'm thinking, and I'm funny sometimes. In short, always expect honesty and weirdness from me.

INTRODUCTORY THINGS (Hometown)

I hail from the land of Cincinnati, Ohio where the river is brown, the bridges are collapsing, and the Cox family is running to a new state. Yeah, I didn't stay in Cin city for long. After about a year, I moved to Tennessee, then to Georgia, and then to Navarre, Florida where I've been ever since.

ALL THE THINGS (Student Organizations and Service)

What I used to do: Secretary and Treasurer of Active Minds, President of Pace Hall Community Council. What I currently do: President of Phi Sigma Tau, VP of the Secular Student Alliance, Editor of Infinite Wisdom, Crisis Text Line Counselor, Logic Tutor. What I want to do: I'm winging it.

MOAR THINGS (Current Projects)

My summer project, to be presented at the National Collegiate Honors Conference, is "The Morality of Suicide: what has been, what is, and what should be." My thesis project critiques current clinical treatments of suicidality, and my philosophy capstone will critique utilitarianism.

POST GRADUATION THINGS

After graduation, I hope to attend graduate school and obtain a dual degree in Psychology and Philosophy once again. Though, realistically speaking, my post graduation plans better resemble the following:¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

WRITING THE THINGS (UWF Infinite Wisdom)

My favorite aspect of Honors has been editing for our blog, Infinite Wisdom. Our words define who we are, and with just 26 letters and 14 punctuation marks anyone can change the world with these strange collections of symbols we've applied meaning to. Check us out on the interwebs n stuff.

SEEING THE THINGS (Traveling)

Most of my happiness stems from talking about the things few people talk about, doing the things few do, and seeing the places I never dreamed of seeing. Traveling takes care of one part of my joy, and the rest of my sources have already been described.

THE THINGS I HAVE TO INCLUDE, PER THE INSTRUCTIONS (Hobbies)

Beyond writing, traveling, and engaging in as many deep conversations as I can, I'm also a huge fan of stand-up comedy. Any comedians that use dark humor or puns are right up my alley, and Bo Burnham was once my doppleganger. Also, over 30 of the shirts I own have puns on them.

I HAVE TO INCLUDE THESE THINGS TOO (Books and Television)

Yeah, unsurprisingly, I'm reading quite a lot of philosophy at the moment, such as Kripke's Naming and Necessity, Kant's deontological ethics, Mill and Bentham's consequentialism, and Aristotle being Aristotle. As far as TV goes, I love me some Game of Thrones and Shameless.

Why?

I decided to be a mentor because I know what it's like to struggle alone. Sometimes the world becomes discombobulated and confusing, but everyone deserves another person to reach out to. I'm just here to help however I can. Even if you won't always put yourself first, I'll be sure to.
